A crossroads of sea and land routes - Alexandroupolis connects Europe and Asia, West and East. The pretty seaside town, the lighthouse stands imposingly in the harbor, a privileged center of a really charismatic region.
Modern Alexandroupolis is the first Greek city that a visitor meets when he comes either from Turkey or Bulgaria. Sea lovers will feel they are in a real paradise. In a 25 km stretch of coastline beaches that suit in all tastes, sandy and rocky, noisy and organized. Young and old can enjoy the pleasures of the sea from the Evros Delta to the zone of the ancient Mesimvria.
Makri is another city where olive groves reach the sea, the waters deepen and clean beaches compete those of Halkidiki. Seafood and ouzo answer any culinary challenge and offer magnificent views of Samothrace, the island of Evros. With clean air, the island looks as if you can touch it.
Just beyond the cosmic Agia Paraskevi offers water sports, cafes and drink all day and night. Going to Mesimvria one must stop in Scorpio, a remote, pristine beach, known to few people. The whole area is ideal for fishing and snorkeling and is the locals properly exploited.
Very near is the Ancient Meshmvrıa with amazing sea below the archaeological site. Swımmıng ıs prohibited: half ancient city lies below sea level, as a sort of underwater archaeological park.
